We feel that the most important thing Bunting was trying to do after she published Smoky Night was remind others to accept one another despite any kind of difference. However, after reading the story over and over again countless times, we decided to focus on the most important message that we felt Bunting was trying to send which was, negatively judging others because of differences need to be diminished. While reading this book, the material is so dense and deep that we had a hard time choosing one particular theme to focus on. We read Smoky Night by: Eve Bunting, a very thought provoking story about tragedy, race riots, negative judgment, and bonding.
